DEFINITION
- Claim means a request for a benefit pay-out done by a Beneficiary and or his representative in the event of the death of the Insured.
- Commencement Date means the policy inception date.
- Cover means a promise made under this agreement by the Insurer to pay a specified amount of money under the Data Cover, in return for a Premium.
- Customer means the individuals or entities who have access to the EcoSure products. The individuals must be above the age of 18.
- EcoSure means the brand used by Econet Life in advertising its business.
- EcoSure Agent means an entity and/or individual registered by the Insurer to assist in submission of Claims and customer education.
- EcoSure Funeral Cover means a funeral assurance cover that entitles a promised amount determined by the Policy Package to be paid out in the event of the death of the Insured.
- Econet Life means the name of the firm underwriting the Data Cover Product. Econet Life and EcoSure will be used interchangeably in these terms and conditions.
- Hospital Cash Back Plan (HCB) pays a daily cash benefit from the fourth day of continuous hospitalization as defined in the HCB terms and conditions.
- Insured means a person covered under the Bundle Cover.
- Insurer means Econet Life (Private) Limited, the company underwriting the Data Cover.KYC Information means information that relates to the policyholder that he/she furnishes when registering for a policy, this includes, but is not limited to Full Names, Identity Number, Gender and Date of birth.
- MNO Network means the Mobile Network Operators Network; in this case the MNO refers to Econet Wireless.
- Personal Accident (PAC) benefit will cover death by accident and accidental disability as defined in the PAC terms and conditions.
- Policyholder means the owner of the policy.
- Policy Commencement Date means the date when the policy becomes active.
- Policy Number means the unique number generated by the Econet Microinsurance System (EMS) and may be the Insured’s unique mobile number. The Insured’s Policy number may be quoted in all correspondence pertaining to the Insured’s Data Cover.
- Policy Package means the EcoSure Data Cover options available for selection by the Customer.
- Policy Term or Duration means the period of time for which the Policy is valid and the Cover is active. The Cover will commence on the Policy Commencement Date and shall continue for a period 30 days, renewable on each subsequent Premium payment by the Insured.
- Premium means the amount (in Zimbabwe Dollars or any other currency as maybe prescribed by the Government of Zimbabwe) that the Insured is required to pay every 30 days period or at any other frequency specified under the Policy to maintain the Policy.
- Premium Payment means purchasing a Data Cover Bundle.
- Registered EcoSure Customer means an individual with an existing active policy under the EcoSure product offering.
- Sum Assured means the amount of money that will be paid out to a Beneficiary in the event of an insured event occurring to the Insured.
- Waiting Period is a time period in which the insurance company will not pay for claims emanating from events covered under the packages. The waiting period relates to events caused by natural causes.
REGISTRATION FOR POLICIES
- Data Cover provides cover for:i. Funeral expenses in the event of death of an insured.
ii. Hospital Cash Back after 72 hours of continuous hospitalization.
iii. Permanent total disability or death due to an accident. - To register for the Data Cover, the Customer must be above the age of 18.
- Registration shall be done by purchasing an opt-in Data cover bundle available on the Econet *143# USSD.
- A Customer should be registered on the Econet network to be able to access the Data Cover Bundle.
- By purchasing the Data cover bundle and registering for the Data Cover, the customer consents and gives authority to the Econet wireless company to share the following KYC information with Econet Life for insurance purposes:ii. Forename(s) and Surname
iii. Identity Number
iv. Gender
v. Date of birth - Registered EcoSure customer will be eligible for Data Cover registration, in the case of a claim, EcoSure will pay all the registered policies.

- The Data Cover packages cover PAC, HCB and Funeral for one premium.

REPEAT PURCHASES
- There is no monthly limit to the number of Data Cover bundle purchases.
- Repeat purchases will result in the increase of cover as follows:
- The monthly incremental cover effect is limited to 3 successive purchases of the Data Cover Bundle in the same cover period. Any purchases beyond the third purchase will be treated as prepayment for the following cover period.
- The commencement date for the monthly incremental cover effect will be calculated as follows:i. Repeat purchases made between the 1st day of the month and the 15th day of the month (inclusive), the incremental cover will be effective in that same month.
ii. If the repeat purchases are made from the 16th day of the month to the end of that month, the repeat purchases will be treated as prepayments for the cover effective from the 1st day of the following month. - The data bundle component of the Data Cover bundle will be deposited and available for use to the customer effective from the moment of purchase, the above mechanics only apply to the insurance component.
